Avalamban - Manish Shrivastaw - Google Books
First thing first see, I've written this book gee, over a cup of coffee or tea, read it & make sure u have a copy for kids as in future this book will find new meanings & venues, I hope.
Avalamban contains my Hindi as well as Urdu poems, not written for any publisher, reader/critic of present times & style, it was not in my mind that it'll ever see light. Circumstances ah damn & my chunk of heart is out there for 200 bucks, they even count matras in verses & criticise at length, my poor emotional soliloquies, my personal cherished stuff, they've almost written off saying "isla kara liya hota, shayari nahin hai, garib kahan hain tumhari kavita men, samaj ki jhalak nadaarad hai, laahaul vila!" Samaj? which took away my dreams and I write about that society to get accolades?
But if you read it carefully it has everything, why don't they see it! It has ghazals with matla & no matla, new never before seen (when I say never I mean since 1200s Siraj Aurangabadi days to Ghalib, Daag, Haali 1800s, and Faiz, Firaq of 1900s 'I like them all') unique qaafias & unusual radeefs which give new flavour to shayari. I didn't go to ustaads I can understand digesting me, the no flattery person, is difficult. But I'm happy that I wrote something off beaten path.
In Hindi kavita I don't say modern kavita which is to me nothing but pagemaker formatting of otherwise unimpressive prose or gadya, so it looks like oh kavita. Rather I say it in laya, rhyme or chhand, sometimmes I astray & write long gadyatmak poem with longer lines, but that too has laya, read it aloud & u'll find out what I'm talking about. Personal outburst, finding of self, emotional samarpan, worshipping your beloved is what I feel & believe, a true poetry. Those who've achieved it are blessed.
I'm thinking of enetering in English poetry as well what say! And I can't write a better English review for my humble book. Buy it so I get my cute li'l royalty of 20 bucks per book (thanks to my benevolent publisher Rajkamal Prakashan who published it without any cut or editing). - Thanks
